About the project

The LHC Logging project is a subproject of the LHC Control Project. It was started on 17 September 2001 with a project kick-off meeting. The mandate and initial planning have been established. The first objective is to satisfy the requirements needed for logging of the QRL. This phase is handled by Ronny Billen and Maciej Peryt

The LHC Logging project now reports to the AB-CO Technical Committee.

The target systems for the first implementation (QRL) and their corresponding contact people are:

  • Cryogenics: M. Sanmarti,  L. Serio

  • Vacuum: I. Laugier, R. Gavaggio

  • General Services: U. Epting, R. Martini

  • Alarms: M. Tyrrell

  • Post Mortem: J. Wenninger

LSS4/TT40 Extraction Tests shot-by-shot logging is another candidate to provide a test-bed for the LHC Logging system. The discussions on that matter have already started.

History: The first draft of the Functional Specification document has been presented at the project review meeting on 11 Jan 2002. The review was followed by a round of meetings with the future clients, resulting with the revised version of the document. The second review of the document took place on 27 March 2002.

Design specification

The design specification phase has been completed. The document has been submitted to the LHC Baseline and has now been approved. History: The very first, not yet complete draft of the Architectural Design document has been presented at the project review meeting on 30 Jul 2002. The remarks from this meeting were taken into account in the complete version of the document, which was reviewed again by the project team and their supervisors on 29 Aug 2002 and submitted for a peer review which took place on 23 Sep 2002. The project progress and candidate architecture have been reviewed at the AB-CO Technical Committee meeting on 5 Dec 2002.
